SCOTTISH DARTS ASSOCIATION BY LAWS
1.(a) Membership of the Association may be applied for by any League, Club or Association playing darts
within Scotland.
(b) Any League seeking, or wishing to retain, membership to the Scottish Darts Association must affiliate to
the Area Association ( in which boundaries they reside ) through which its membership will be
accepted.
(c) To affiliate as a League to the Scottish Darts Association ( or Area Association) the minimum number
of teams acceptable for league status is four.
(d) League Representation must include all teams/ clubs within and administered by the League Committee.
2. The Association shall be divided into Area Associations, each Area Association shall be responsible to
the Scottish Darts Association for the control of darts within its Area. Any Area Association,
its boundaries, and members under its control to be decided at the AGM should it be in addition
to the Areas as previously originated.
3 (a) To be eligible for nomination to the Board of Directors, a person must have been a member of the
Association Committee for two (2) consecutive years, or have been a Scottish Official (as defined
by the Board of Directors) for the previous two (2) years.
(b) Any person under consideration for election to the Board of Directors at an AGM, must record
more than fifty percent of the voting strength at the AGM before they can be accepted as a Director.
(c) As soon as possible following an Annual General Meeting, the elected Directors will appoint,
from within those elected, a Chairman, General Secretary, Vice-Chairman and a Financial Director.
4. (a) The Association Committee will consist of two delegates from each Area Association, elected by
their Area Association. One of the two persons from each Area Association will be designated
Area Organiser.
(b) The Association Committee will meet once every two months, where possible, as will
Area Association Committees, for the purpose of promoting darts in Scotland.
5, Each member League shall be entitled to one vote per paid up club member, within that League,
at the AGM or extraordinary special meeting. No two member Leagues to be represented by the
same individual. Any person voting on behalf of any League, must be a member of that League’s
committee (Office-bearer), or carry a letter signed by at least two committee members
(Office-bearers) from that League stating permission to vote on behalf of that League
6. All Committee Meetings and Annual General Meetings shall be at a venue which is at a convenient
traveling time for all Member Areas.
7. Each Area Association will pay an annual fee, from which traveling expenses incurred by the Area
Association Representatives attending Committee Meetings shall be reimbursed. This fee must be
forwarded by each Area Association prior to 31st December each year.
8. The participation of playing darts in the Association Tournaments and Competitions shall be open to players playing darts in a Member League/Club/Association of the Scottish Darts Association, and players of recognised full Scottish International status, this applies to SDA tournaments only, and is not included when ‘Open’ tournaments are organised by the SDA, either for the SDA or on behalf of any body to which the SDA has been contracted to organise any ‘Open’ tournament.
9. No player may play for more than one Member League, in any one Playing Season, whose normal playing night is the same, unless a letter of release is given by the League Committee the player is leaving..
10.No player may change from one Member Association/League/Club to another Member Association/League/Club whilst he/she is in debt to the Member Association/League/Club which he/she is leaving.
11. Any Player/Association/League/Club found guilty of financial inducement will be expelled from the
Association.
12. All Disciplinary matters will be dealt with as per the Scottish Darts Association’s Disciplinary Code of
Practice.
13. Tournaments and competitions organised or supervised by the Association shall be any tournament or
competition the Association decide is in the interests of the Association and darts players in Scotland.
14. All tournaments and competitions shall be governed by the playing rules of each particular tournament or
competition.
15. (a) Registration fees are not refundable.
(b) Entry fees into tournaments are not refundable, except on those occasions deemed appropriate by
the Board of Directors.
16. Selection of International teams shall be by a selection committee of six elected members and the team
manager. All members of the selection committee shall be elected annually by the Association Committee.
Members of the selection committee must be:-
(1) A member of an Inter-County playing area in Scotland.
(2) A member of the Association Committee for a period of not less than two continuous years or
have been a Scottish Official (as defined by the Board of Directors) for the previous two years.
(3) Nominations for Team Manager/Selection Committee to be submitted at least one month prior to
election of Team Manager/Selection Committee.
17. All matters concerning the eligibility of players and the interpretation of By laws, playing rules or other
disputes shall be referred to the Board of Directors whose decision shall be final.
18. All meetings of the Association shall be conducted in accordance with the Standing Orders then in force.
